Clive Bonny

After doing some research into self made creative clothing I have found that Clive Bonny is the founder and principal consultant of Strategic Management Partners Ltd

BRIGHTON FASHIONISTAS CREATE GIANT POMPOM

Brighton fashionistas have entered the Guinness book of records after creating a giant PomPom in the build up to next month’s Brighton Fashion Week.

The mammoth pompom, which weighed a staggering 1.5 tonnes, was created from used clothes which will now be recycled back to new garments by Bag2School and Bag2TheFuture.

The record breaking creation in Jubilee Square was unveiled on 6th May and measured in at a whopping 13ft 4in wide and 5ft 6in high and took 200 hours to create.

Among the names given to the PomPom from passersby were King Pom, Pompompidou, Pomzilla and Atompom.

Clive Bonny, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce who helped sponsor the record, said: “We need to create more awareness to reduce the throw away mentality and refashion old garments into new items. The UK is a world leader in creative design and fashion and many of our schools can develop young people’s enterprise skills by taking used clothes from the local community into their fashion and textile classes.”

Clive Bonny was a sponsor for the record pompom at Brighton's fashion week. He also stated that he wants to create more awareness to reduce what the nation throws away.
The giant pompom may be an aspect could be considered for the website - I just need to find out if it is suitable to go on the site as it does not say that it is for creative clothing.
He is also part of The Royal Society of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce as a Fellow.

"The panel awarded £2000 to a project that came out of discussions with the Brighton Fellows network. The Catalyst grant and help from the RSA Skills bank and Fellowship Networks team will help run a pilot turning second-hand clothes into new recycled products, engaging students and other potential designers from all walks of life in clothing transformation. Clive Bonny, project leader for Self Made Creative Clothing is looking for support from Fellows involved in textiles, fashion or clothing industries as well as Community Interest Company formation."

So he is/was looking for support from "Fellows" that are involved in textile and clothing to support his project.

Fellows: "I really enjoy learning from some of the 27,000 Fellows internationally. The Fellowship have a common purpose in sharing how they manage challenges and opportunities of innovation to develop communities and social enterprises. To be able to tap into the RSA's 250 years of acquired knowledge is a unique opportunity."

"One of my interests is the link to current Big Society principles in driving creative social enterprise at the ground floor level, recycling good clothing materials which otherwise are wasted, and educating people at all levels to make more from limited resources in this Age of Austerity. This year I have been delivering short workshops for the Business Community Partnership, and other membership bodies, showing social enterprises how to apply tools to become more resilient."

"I linked the Catalyst project to Brighton Fashion School who recently created the world’s largest pompom in Brighton's Jubilee Square using old clothes being recycled into new clothes. It was a 1.5 tonne monster, 13 foot 4 inches wide and 5 feet 6 inches high, beating the previous Guinness Record. Our aim was to create more awareness in the community of the need to recycle used clothes into new garments."
