Research into animation used in a documentary

Animated documentary "Faith"

Looking at animation used in documentary, I have come across this wonderful piece that tells you of the story of his grandfather.

The first scene is a zoom out of a book, with the narration over the top, the movement is slow but works so well with the narration and visual design. I like how the depth of field works too here, everything but the book is out of focus.

The page turn looks very realistic and reveals items within the book which is also animated. I would like to mimic this effect as i think it would be a good way to introduce the book.

I like how the book has been placed on this background surrounded by lots of other objects. I t makes the scene more interesting and visually feels more real.

The book also spins around in 3D and becomes this pop out styled book with animated objects, the transition works really well.

The added clouds in the foreground and distance really enforce the 3d look.
